LANSING – State Representative Andrew Kandrevas (D-Southgate) has been appointed Vice Chair of the House Transportation Committee, as well as a member of the Judiciary, Tax Policy and Labor Committees.
"I look forward to playing a leadership role in finding ways to fix Michigan's crumbling roads and bridges," said Kandrevas, who represents the 13th House District, which includes Southgate, Wyandotte, Riverview and Trenton. "Our residents deserve safe streets that don't tear up their cars and cost them extra money on repairs, especially during these tough times. I will work closely with my colleagues to make sure the state invests in transportation solutions that raise our residents' quality of life and attract new businesses to our communities."
As an attorney, Kandrevas also will contribute valuable insight to the Judiciary and Tax Policy Committees.
"I am honored to be appointed to the Labor Committee as well, because my top priority is fighting for our working families," Kandrevas said. "The Legislature must focus on getting our unemployed residents, especially those hurt by the struggles of our auto industry, back on the job. Michigan's workers built this great state, and only a collaborative effort among our workers, businesses and state leaders will turn our economy around."
